$171 Million Settlement Obtained for Explosion Victims

Arnold & Itkin is proud to have secured a record-setting settlement for the victims of a catastrophic event that led to multiple deaths.

Our legal team successfully secured one of the largest settlements for a catastrophic event in history. Years ago, a catastrophic event caused severe harm to multiple workers, many of whom had been turned down by other law firms. Our team got to work on their cases, enduring years of motions and preparation, taking hundreds of depositions, and strengthening each of their cases one-by-one. In the end, the defendant settled with our clients for a staggering total of $171 million—giving them security and medical care for the rest of their lives.

Arnold & Itkin LLP See Case to $117 Million Verdict

When a victim of an ambulance accident sought the help of the firm, the attorneys fought to see her case to a successful resolution.

Arnold & Itkin took on the case of a woman who was severely injured in an ambulance accident back in 2010. At the time, the woman was pregnant and experiencing extreme pain in her abdomen. She called an ambulance (Acadian Ambulance) to transport her to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the ambulance that came to pick her up had a spotted driving record as well as poor eye sight. On their way to the hospital, the driver dropped a device on the ground which he attempted to reach down and pick up. While doing so, the driver took his eyes off of the road and consequently crashed into the back of a sugar cane truck. Our client's spine was severed and she also sustained serious brain injuries. She was told by doctors that she would be confined to a wheelchair for the remainder of her life and would not make a complete recovery.

When the case reached a verdict, the woman's medical bills had already reached up to $1.4 million. If her medical treatments keep going the way they are expected to, then this will total approximately $30 million in the rest of her lifetime. Also a result of the accident, the woman's unborn child was born prematurely. The baby was healthy, but there is a heightened risk that it will suffer health complications later on down the line. The woman also had another daughter. Both of them are now under the care of their grandmother because the mother does not have the capacity to do so in her physical condition. In order to take care of our client and her children for the remainder of their lives, our firm was able to see the case to a $117 million verdict because of the negligence of the ambulance driver.

$76.6 Million Verdict Secured by Arnold & Itkin in Risperdal Case

Our attorneys have secured a unanimous verdict for our client against Johnson & Johnson. The $76.6 million verdict is the single largest for Risperdal cases.

Attorneys Jason Itkin and Kyle Findley—assisted by Santana McMurrey and Cory Itkin—have won a $76.6 million verdict against pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson. J&J, who manufactured the infamous antipsychotic Risperdal, unlawfully falsified, concealed, and/or destroyed evidence that their drug caused gynecomastia (female breast growth) in young boys. Our client was one of the young boys who became disfigured from taking Risperdal. Though the defendant fought us at every term, we successfully proved their willful negligence in allowing our client and children like him to take this harmful medication. We are particularly pleased with the publicizing of scientific data linking Risperdal to gynecomastia in a group of evidence named “Tab 4,” which we uncovered during cross-examination. As a result of our work, our client received the largest single verdict in a Risperdal trial of $76.6 million.

$72 Million Settlement Achieved for Severely Injured Worker

Arnold & Itkin recovered a record amount for a worker who lost his arm in an oilfield accident.

Attorneys Jason Itkin, Cory Itkin, and Kurt Arnold have recovered an enormous settlement for our client, who was employed as an oilfield worker less than 2 years ago. Due to the negligence of multiple companies, our client suffered devastating injuries in a tragic incident—including the loss of his arm. With only one week left before trial was scheduled to begin, our opponents chose to settle with our client for the amount he deserved. The settlement has secured our client’s future financially and medically. Just as importantly, the settlement forced the companies involved to change their policies and ensure this sort of tragedy never occurs again.

Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $29,340,369.87.

$44 Million Verdict Won for Worker Who Lost Limb

We are honored to announce that we have won a $44 million jury verdict for a construction site worker who had his leg amputated after a crane accident. This is the largest amputee verdict in the country.

After enduring devastating injuries that forced doctors to amputate his leg, a construction site superintendent came to Arnold & Itkin for help. Our team quickly sprang into action on his behalf, ultimately determining that numerous safety violations led to the crane accident that caused our clients suffering and pain.

After the defendants failed to give a fair settlement, we took the case to trial. Once the evidence of the blatant safety violations and devastating damages they caused were presented, the court decided to award our client $44 million. Our team is happy that we were able to help our client secure the just compensation he deserved.

This case was listed #43 in The National Law Journal's Top 100 Verdicts of 2015.
