Arnold & Itkin Recover Wronged Client $38 Million
A verdict for $38 million was reached in a case where a client was secretly cut out of a business acquisition deal.
Honsador Lumber Corporation was the target for acquisition by Houston investor Richard Foreman and is also one of Hawaii's largest lumber suppliers. Foreman was secretly prevented from the deal by Key Principal Partners LLC and its parent Key Corporation. A jury found them guilty of intentionally interfering with Foreman's efforts to obtain the lumber corporation as well as violating Hawaii's unfair competition statute. Jones Act Seaman Case Settles for $14 Million Before Trial
Legal team at Arnold & Itkin secures $14 million for their client who sustained serious head injuries on an inland barge.
Just two days before this Jones Act case was set to go to trial, Arnold & Itkin were able to procure $14 million from a settlement. The case involved a seaman who suffered serious head injuries after being hit in the head by a three-foot pipe that should have been removed from the derrick of the inland barge Hercules 15. They attempted to jar the pipe loose before they began drilling operations which is the point when the plaintiff was struck on the head. The case, which took place in Lake Washington, Louisiana, never made it to the February 2, 2009 trial.
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $6,024,236.00.
Arnold & Itkin Obtaines $11.5 Settlement for Injured Offshore Client
An injured offshore worker sought the help of Arnold & Itkin attorneys who helped him obtain an $11.5 settlement.
Arnold & Itkin attorneys Kurt Arnold, Jason Iktin and Cory Itkin took an injured offshore worker as a client, successfully obtaining for him an $11.5 million settlement. The man suffered both physical and psychological damage, and the settlement went toward his injuries and continued care.
Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $3,795,000.00.
Arnold & Itkin Attorneys Secure More than $10 Million in Verdict
Union Pacific was found at fault in an accident leading to the paralyzing of a five-year-old girl and the death of her mother while crossing the street.
After being at trial for three weeks, the attorneys from Arnold & Itkin were able to restore $10.9 million to a bereaved Louisiana family. The family filed suit in Beaumont, Texas after the five-year-old daughter was paralyzed and her mother killed in a crossing accident. The court denied pretrial motions and the plaintiffs sought to prove that the crossing was a safety hazard, not including sufficient warning devices. Evidence showed that oncoming traffic came at the intersection at a thirty degree angle, making it difficult to look left before crossing. In the seven years prior to this incident, there had been four injuries and two deaths due to the same lack of warning at this crossing. The jury ruled that Union Pacific should have provided these devices.
$9.6 Million Verdict Decided in Case Won by Arnold & Itkin
Kurt Arnold of Arnold & Itkin was able to restore more than $9 million to his client who suffered severe eye trauma due to an industrial injury.
The legal team at Arnold & Itkin is responsible for winning $9.6 million for their Houston, Texas client who was involved in an industrial workplace injury. The injury, which took place on the job, caused the plaintiff to lose most of the sight in one of his eyes. The jury was able to decide in only a day and a half that the defendant was liable for designing the faulty equipment that led to the injury. Only $300,000 was offered for the pretrial settlement.
Arnold & Itkin Secures $9 Million in Settlement for Louisiana Families
Attorney Kurt Arnold was able to win $9 million for Louisiana landowners who brought suit against oil companies for contaminating their properties.
$9 million was gained in settlement money for clients of Arnold & Itkin. Louisiana landowners were afraid that their properties had been contaminated by big oil companies who commenced operations on their land. The plaintiffs, who have had the properties in their families for generations, wanted to make sure that the oil companies had cleaned up and not left traces of foreign elements behind. Kurt Arnold was able to gain the expert testimony of professionals who confirmed that many oil companies have no policies or procedures for cleaning up after themselves. The lawsuit resulted in this large settlement for the Louisiana families and a full cleanup of their properties.

Arnold & Itkin Wins More Than $7 Million
The legal team at Arnold & Itkin recovered $7.2 million in settlement money for their severely injured client.
A Louisiana oilfield worker suffered serious injuries after falling through the grating on an offshore platform. He sustained both brain damage and memory loss and sought the help of attorneys at Arnold & Itkin. This case involved complex legal issues regarding the exact nature of the injuries, as well as issues regarding the number of defendants and volume of medical records. The case went to trial in October 2006 and while the jury was being selected, it was settled for $7.2 million. Most of the settlement, $4 million, was given directly to the client, while the remaining $2.5 million was invested in a structured fund to meet any and all of the client's future needs.

$7.1 Million Restored to Injured Offshore Worker
Arnold & Itkin LLP represented an injured offshore worker and were able to win more than 7 million on his behalf.
Kurt Arnold, Jason Itkin and Cory Itkin from Arnold & Itkin LLP took on the case of a worker who was injured while performing his offshore job duties. Because of their successful representation, Arnold & Itkin was able to see that their client got $7.1 million in settlement to care for his injuries- a herniated disc and concussion.
